First Carolina Postal Credit Union was formed in 1950 and chartered in 1952 under the name of Goldsboro Postal Credit Union to provide postal employees and their families with high quality services, to promote the wise use of their financial resources and complement their diverse lifestyles. Membership is a family affair.
The Kinston Postal Credit Union and Wilson Postal Credit Union are two of the credit unions who have merged with us in the past. Maola Milk and Ice Cream Credit Union, a different employee affiliation, merged in March of 1988. The name was changed to First Carolina Postal Credit Union in November of 1988. The name change helped reflect the larger field of membership in the different towns and affiliations. In 2003, Goldsboro Firemen's Credit Union was merged into the First Carolina Postal Credit Union. Once again we experienced growth from a new field of membership. Again in 2004 the credit union experienced growth when Rocky Mount Postal Credit Union merged into the membership of First Carolina Postal Credit Union; and then again in 2006 with the merger of Henderson Postal Credit Union.
First Carolina Postal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. Profits are returned to members in the form of higher interest on shares (savings), lower interest rates on loans, and expanded and improved services. The credit union is owned by its members and governed by a member-elected board of directors. Through sound management, innovative benefits, and service with a personal touch, First Carolina Postal Credit Union has gained its members respect. We have not lost sight of the reason for our existence – service to our members.
First Carolina Postal Credit Union is effectively serving over 2,200 members from a strength of almost $17,000,000.00 in assets. The credit union offers shares, share drafts, IRA's, share certificates, credit cards, ATM cards, VISA check cards, and many types of loans.
The credit union also offers access for members to their account through a 24 hour "real time" audio service housed within the credit union as well as "internet branching" which offers bill pay privileges. The credit union also offers ACH origination services for members to move funds from other institutions to their credit union accounts.
The credit union's main office is located in Goldsboro and a branch office is located in Rocky Mount.
